about jenice

I've always been interested in the coming together of word and image. My mother introduced me to the word and my father to the image. Some of what interests me most is place, architecture, voice, women, sacred language, Tibetan Buddhism, Vedanta, the model of astrology, and the breaking open of the human heart.

Education:

I'm primarily a self-study person with a wide range of interests. I'm most grateful to all my writing and spiritual mentors/teachers who have shared their knowledge through books or in person like Swami Chandrasekharanand, the Dalai Lama, Don Manuel Quispe, Virginia Woolf, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Junior Burke, Pema Chodron, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, Thomas Merton, my 7th grade English teacher Mrs. Tetzke and French teacher Mrs. DeLaurier, Anne Waldman, Sharon Laurie, Anais Nin, David Olson and the Himalayan Writers Workshop.

On a more formal level, I stayed put long enough to earn a MFA in Creative Writing from Naropa University and a BS in Accounting from Cal Poly, Pomona.

Publications:

Yes, there have been over 100 of them through more traditional print media, a couple of poetry chapbooks, and three of my plays produced.

All photos taken with an iPhone 6 or XR.
